The Value of Knowledge - from Individual to Social Epistemology
Knowledge, most philosophers agree, is valuable: it enables us to make good decisions and to thrive as a society. But is knowledge more valuable than true belief? This question, also known as the value-of-knowledge problem, goes back to Plato’s dialogue Meno. And it has proven remarkably difficult to provide a conclusive answer to it. The current research project seeks to provide a solution to the problem, drawing on recent developments in formal and social epistemology.
