The Water City of Venice is a paradigm of a natural-cultural resilience.
At once, the balance of its waterscapes is under threat owing to anthropic climate change, rising temperatures and sea levels. This negative conjuncture calls for renewed cultural imagination, epistemological ingenuity and political agency. Venice entwined history of humans and their environment offers an occasion to reflect on political ecology, technoscience, and historical epistemology in the Anthropocene.
Pietro Daniel Omodeo presents these topics as a fundamental part of the programme of the UNESCO Chair on Water Heritage and Sustainable Development he directs in Venice at the NICHE Center for Environmental Humanities.
