About the Department

Welcome to the Department of Philosophy at the University of Hamburg!

Here you can find general information about the structure and activities of the department of philosophy. Our webpage is organized around six sections: about the department, academic affairs, research, faculty, events and service.

Since 2023 the department consists of two institutes: the Institute of Philosophy and the Institute for Liberal Arts & Sciences (external link, internal website is currently under construction). 

Between 2015 and 2023 the department consisted of  the Institute of Philosophy and the Institute for Jewish Philosophy and Religion. Since 2023 the Institute for Jewish Philosophy and Religion is a part of the new Department of Religions.
