In meiner Forschung setze ich mich vor allem mit moralischen und politischen Meinungsverschiedenheiten auseinander. Ich interessiere mich dabei für die epistemischen Grundlagen von moralischem Dissens: Warum sind sich kluge und wohlmeinende Menschen eigentlich so oft uneinig über moralische und politische Fragen? Weiterhin setze ich mich in meiner Forschung mit der Frage auseinander, wie wir unsere politischen Institutionen gestalten sollten, um einen möglichst produktiven Umgang mit vernünftigen Meinungsverschiedenheiten zu gewährleisten. Darüber hinaus setze ich mich aber auch mit ganz konkreten Problemen der Gegenwart auseinander wie Fragen der Migrations- und Digitalethik.

Political pluralism, disagreement and justice : the case for polycentric democracy.

Political philosophy has yet to figure out the true principles of justice. How then should we manage political disagreement in the meantime? The received view is that disagreement threatens the stability of society and should thus be contained. However, the root cause of disagreement – diversity – is not merely a nuisance, but an asset when solving hard problems. Making better use of diversity might, therefore, be the key to social progress. On epistemic grounds, the book develops the argument that competition – allowing diverse people to act on their idiosyncratic hunches – is crucial to unlocking the gains from diversity. Applying these insights to the political realm, I advance the idea of polycentrism. I argue that, by creating more space for diverse political experiments, a polycentric democracy can leverage diversity's full potential for the benefit of society.

Ludwig von Mises als Sozialphilosoph (Ludwig von Mises as a Social Philosopher). Liberale Perspektiven, Friedrich Naumann Foundation. 2012.
This is a German language treatise on the social philosophy of the economist Ludwig von Mises, a teacher of Friedrich August von Hayek. The book is based on my master thesis and was published by a foundation that is dedicated to preserving the ideas of German liberalism.
