DESCRIPTION:You are warmly invited to an international workshop on the manuscript Legitimacy Upside-Down: From Beliefs to Political Normativity by Ilaria Cozzaglio, Junior Professor of Philosophy of Social Sciences at the Department of Philosophy.\n
The manuscript develops a normative theory of political legitimacy that foregrounds the role of citizens’ beliefs, perspectives, and values in shaping standards of political authority. It shows how political judgments can be formulated by combining philosophical reasoning and laypeople’s experience of authority, without reducing a theory of legitimacy to a mere account of the de facto acceptance of power.\n
